We are looking for teachers to join us in the summer. Contracts offered between 2 and 9 weeks between June 23rd and August 1st with the possibility of ongoing work after the summer for those locally based or able to relocate. We pay £104 per day.

What we do:
We are a family-based language school with a dedicated team of teachers year round although our busy periods are Easter, Spring and Summer. We offer junior courses, an over 40 course and family courses. Juniors have 45-minute lessons based around the skills and following a local based curriculum where they learn about York and their Yorkshire based excursions. A typical day might look like a reading lesson looking at the history of York Minster, a listening lesson based around The Minster today, a grammar lesson focussed on using the grammar communicatively, a vocabulary lesson again focusing on the communicative method followed by lunch and then a lesson out at York Minster. Other days will be focussed around the evening activity (such as literature, cooking local foods or a cinema trip) or based around the weekend excursion (Such as the Yorkshire coast, Castle Howard, Bolton Abbey.) An interest or knowledge in York and its history is therefore an advantage! On days without a lesson out students have speaking and writing lessons including dictation lessons where they get to practice their writing skills in a more controlled setting.

Our over 40s course is called the Gold course and students also have lessons based around local areas of interest and afternoon activities to match.

Many of our students are returning students and we have both individual and families who come back to us year after year, including across generations meaning we are always updating and adding to our lesson bank.

What we offer:
We are a small supportive school with fortnightly training and lesson planning support for new teachers. You will be inducted and supported before you start the role and assigned a buddy as well as supported by our academic management team. We also respect teachers induvial creativity and methodology and welcome new ideas or takes on how to deliver lessons.

What we want:
An holistic approach to teaching and willingness to get to know the students as individuals and maintain our schools values of safe and happy language learning. We also expect teachers to keep good records of what they have taught and be in good communication about students needs with colleagues and management.
Must have CELTA level qualification.

Pay:
£520 a week.
