Details of Position
St Andrews College Language School teachers are responsible for the planning and teaching of effective EFL classes to 11-18-year-old students.
As an English Language Teacher, you are responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering the St. Andrews College curriculum to a student body diverse in age, culture, language, and ability. Class sizes are a maximum of 18. Students receive around 15 hours of tuition per week and partake in cultural activities and excursions with the activities staff.
Teachers' hours are spread over a 35 to 42-hour working week depending on the campus and programme offered. Student class contact hours will, on average, be 30 -36 hours per week. Administration (e.g. meetings, updating records of work, etc.) and lesson preparation time, is included within the contracted week. The dates, days, and times may vary according to the needs of the campus.
Full lesson plans and materials are provided and have been specifically designed to fit the needs of our students and teachers. Lessons are task-based and communicative and integrate 21st Century skills, such as digital literacy, critical thinking and engagement with real-world issues and affairs.

Senior Teacher
The Senior Teacher is responsible for assisting the Director of Studies in the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload.
The role incorporates the following:
Ensuring the safety and welfare of all students at all times.
With the other members of the on-campus management team, ensuring that a high-quality, collegiate programme is delivered, following our guidelines, integrating lessons and activities where possible.
Supporting the Director of Studies in the overall management of the academic programme and teaching team, ensuring it is of the highest standard possible, so students derive the maximum benefit from their course.

The Director of Studies
The Director of Studies is responsible for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic programme, including the management of the teaching team and their performance. This is a management position and you should therefore expect a demanding workload. We are looking for experienced, flexible and supportive Directors of Studies with good leadership skills, excellent management and interpersonal skills and a high level of computer literacy.
You will lead the academic team's delivery of high-quality, effective and engaging lessons using our bespoke, in-house-developed curriculum. You will be responsible for observing, training and supporting teachers of varying degrees of experience and ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Qualifications
Awareness of the responsibilities of working with students under 18.
Undergraduate (Level 6) Degree + Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CERT TESOL, or a QTS award if it is primary level, or secondary level English or Foreign Languages.
Knowledge of the use of English and the linguistic systems underlying it.
Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken).
Flexibility, in both teaching and non-teaching duties, and the ability to work well with other colleagues.
Ability to work with IT systems, Google Drive, to maintain records and access resources.
Smart and tidy appearance.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in both the teaching and welfare of students under 18.
Experience of working with multicultural and multilingual groups.
Experience of preparing students for English language exams, namely Trinity GESE.
Salary and Benefits
Director of Studies: £682 - £777 per week
(£764 - £870 per week including Holiday pay)
Senior Teacher: - £612 - £701 per week
(£686 - £786 per week including holiday pay)
Teacher: - £574 - £672 per week
(£644 - £753 per week including holiday pay)
Holiday pay: paid and accrued in accordance with UK laws and regulations and is paid at the end of the contract.
