About us

Weymouth English Centre, established in 2004 is a small, friendly, British Council accredited summer school in Weymouth, on the South Coast of England. Our programme is for international students aged 13 to 17 and includes 15 hours of English tuition per week, a full programme of sports and leisure activities in the afternoons and evenings and a full day trip on Saturdays. Optional extras include sailing, outdoor adventure and windsurfing.

Activity Manager responsibilities

- Being committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and ensuring that they are protected from physical or emotional harm.

- To hold inductions for new Activity Leaders to prepare them thoroughly for their roles and make them fully aware of their responsibilities and duties.

- To hold weekly meetings / feedback sessions with the Activity Leaders.

- To gain feedback from students via the 3-day reports and end of course reports and feed back to Activity Leaders any relevant information.

- To make staff and students aware of fire precautions, fire drills and the availability and whereabouts of First Aid equipment.

- To ensure that all Activity Leaders are properly prepared for all activities and excursions in advance and are made aware of their responsibilities and duties.

- To manage the staff rota and arrange for sufficient Activity Leaders to be on duty on each activity, excursion and airport transfer.

- To arrange for sufficient Activity Leaders to be on duty during morning and lunchtime breaks.

- To ensure that students are prepared for and given adequate information about their programme of activities.

- To prepare the lists of students on each activity and make sure that the Activity Leaders and foreign group leaders have these lists before the activity is due to start.

- To meet and greet foreign group leaders and hold weekly meetings to keep them informed.

- To check regularly with foreign group leaders that they and all their students are happy.

- To help the Director of Studies co-ordinate the testing and class allocation each Monday morning.

- To confirm and update all bookings with external suppliers.

- To update the programmes and information about activities on the noticeboard on a weekly basis.

- To check that any equipment required is in the right place at the right time for each activity and is returned and checked after the activity.

- To ensure that members of staff who require cash or cheques for programme activities or other purposes have sufficient funds available and that they complete the school's accounts sheets accurately and obtain valid receipts for all monies paid out.

- To carry out checks to ensure that the activities are being run in a professional way.

- To ensure that sufficient leaders are allocated to be at the airport to meet new students and accompany them to the course town and on their return journey to the airport and help them check in.

- To ensure that the welfare and safety of the students and staff is maintained throughout their stay.

- To keep proper administrative records as required.

- To keep records of the hours worked by Activity Leaders and provide this information to the Centre Manager each month.

- To keep the Centre Manager regularly informed as to the general progress of the courses and any problems that may arise.

- To attend a weekly meeting with the Centre Manager and Director of Studies.

- Any other duties which the Centre Manager may reasonably request.
