Galapagos Language Academy is located in the town of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. The academy has been operating for over a decade and, in recent years, has expanded along with the growth of tourism on the islands. Our goal as an organization is to support the local community and provide the opportunity to learn another language. Here on the island, speaking English, German, or French opens many doors for employment and is one of the most sought-after skills by businesses. The GLA family offers affordable, high-quality classes to ensure that anyone who wishes to improve their language skills has the opportunity to do so. We strive to create a welcoming, fun, and friendly environment at all times, making the most of the individuality of each team member and student to create a unique place to study and work. We also teach other languages, such as Spanish, German, and French.

Qualifications

A recognized certificate in TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent.
Your spoken English must be at a native-level standard.
Experience teaching young learners.
Strong classroom management skills (very important).
A minimum of 1 year of experience teaching English.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Enthusiastic and flexible.
Reliable.
Experience living in similar locations will be highly valued.
We also need one German and one French teacher. If you are able to teach any of these languages, please let us know.

Salary and Benefits

Start date: May 5th, 2025
End date: Feb 28th, 2026
$950.00 USD monthly.

Free accommodation. (individual apartment. The apartment consists of one bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom)
We sponsor work visa.
One week paid holiday in December.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with 6 contact hours per day, totalling 30 hours a week. The working hours consist of a split shift, the first session being in the morning, usually from 9-10 am, and the second session from 3-8 pm.
