Job Title 1: Senior teacher
Contract: Permanent, full-time

Job Title 2: Senior Teacher (maternity cover)
Contract: Fixed 9 months , full-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Teaching: 6-22.25 hours per week
Annual Leave (pro rata): year one = 28 days; year 2 = 29 days (max 34 days)

Start Date Job 1: 6th January 2025
Start Date Job 2: From 9th December 2024 no later than 6th January 2025

Celtic English Academy was proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024. We are a friendly and welcoming English language school in the centre of Cardiff, which takes pride in its small class sizes, great teachers and wonderful support staff. We offer a range of beginner to advanced level English language courses for international students including, but not limited to; General English, IELTS Exam Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation, Teacher Development Courses, One-to-One lessons for adult students, and bespoke packaged programmes for both adult and young learners. We are also a Cambridge CELTA training centre. Celtic is an IALC and Quality English School, and British Council accredited.

Celtic is a year-round adult school and we run 2 junior summer centres. Each year approximately 1000 adult students with an average of 11 weeks stay and 500 juniors with an average of 2 weeks stay study with us from up to 50 different nationalities. We accommodate 150 - 350 students at any one time and we strive to always have a motivating and student-focused environment where we can offer a great service to all that study with us.

We would like to appoint a new senior teacher to help strengthen our talented Academic Management Team and help fulfil our development goals of achieving high levels of service to support our students and teaching staff.

The senior teacher role is a key role connecting the teaching team with other departments and students to create a culture of support. Celtic has a commitment to promoting values of inclusivity, equality, diversity and sustainability. Student welfare and safeguarding is a key element of the Senior Teacher remit.

While the Senior teacher role is demanding, Celtic prioritises staff (and student) wellbeing and work life balance through such innovations as Agile working and access to occupational health support. Our CPD programme and policy ensures staff have access to training to support their CPD, soft skills and passions beyond teaching.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
- CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL plus 4 years teaching experience (with a minimum of 2 years teaching abroad)
- Undergraduate degree
- ELT Management experience in a Senior Teacher role or similar
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment

DESIRABLE
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- DELTA or Trinity TESOL Diploma
- PGCE
- CELTA Trainer Status

EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL
-Good working knowledge of different teaching methodologies and approaches, and trends in EFL Industry
-Good working knowledge of Google Drive / Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
-Experience of developing teaching resources and materials
-Experience of delivering in-house teacher training sessions

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

Salary and Benefits

TEFLI £29,190.00 pa (Pro rata)
TEFLQ £30,450.00 pa (Pro rata)
