Details of Position
Celtic English Academy has been running Junior Summer Programmes since 2018. We are excited to host our third summer at the historical Haberdashers' Monmouth School, in the picturesque town of Monmouth, located in the Wye Valley.
About the Programme
The Junior Summer Programme offers a unique opportunity to teach English to international students aged 11-17. The programme includes:
-15 hours of English lessons per week to students aged 11-17
-Existing materials to prepare and adapt to suit students needs and abilities
-A communicative approach to teaching that integrates General English, British Culture, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
-Small class sizes (maximum 15 students)
-Opportunities to engage with students during afternoon and evening activities, such as sports and arts & crafts
-Weekly excursions: two half-day trips and one full-day trip

Role Overview
As an EFL Summer Teacher, you will:
-Teach approximately 15 hours of English lessons a week, focusing on improving students communicative skills
-Deliver engaging lessons using both Celtic's provided materials and your own resources
-Participate in 20 hours of social activities per week, including excursions, sports, and arts.
-Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and support student onboarding processes
-Maintain accurate records and prepare reports and certificates for students
-Support pastoral duties as required, ensuring students safety and well-being
-Comply with British Council guidelines and follow best practices
-Provide a safe, positive and engaging learning environment for all students
Key Dates
-Pre-Programme Induction: Online, dates to be confirmed (paid)
-Onsite Induction in Cardiff & Monmouth: Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July (paid)
-Contract Start Date: Monday 7th July 2025 for a period of 4-6 weeks

In addition to recruiting teachers, we are also looking for enthusiastic Activity Leaders to join our summer programme. Activity Leaders play a key role in leading excursions, sports, and social activities while ensuring students have a memorable and safe experience.

Degree Required
Applicants should have one of the following required qualifications:
Cambridge CELTA
Qualifications
-TEFL I Status: Undergraduate Degree and an ELT/ TESOL qualification (e.g. CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL)
-Safeguarding Children Level 1 Certificate (or willingness to complete)
-Experience working with young people aged 11-17 (teaching or non-teaching roles)
-C1 level of English proficiency
-Strong communication and organisational skills
-Eligible to live and work in the UK
Desirable
-First Aid certificate
-Enhanced DBS certificate
-PGCE or QTS qualification
-1-2 years teaching experience in the UK or abroad
-Experience working in summer schools
Salary and Benefits
-Salary paid in two installments: end of July and end of August
