The Role
The Director of Studies is directly responsible for the effective implementation of the academic programme, ensuring the Summer Centre maintains its reputation for high academic standards. You will lead a team of up to 15 teachers with varying degrees of experience, supporting them in all aspects of their role, including lesson planning, materials selection, class management, testing, and guiding them in new courses. Close liaison with the Centre Manager, Head of Welfare and Social Activities Manager will be required as part of the Centre Management Team. You will be organised, accurate, customer-oriented and have excellent interpersonal and team-working skills.
We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and reliable people to join us at ESC at Lord Wandsworth College where we host residential students aged 12 to 17. Lord Wandsworth College is located in lovely grounds in a beautiful part of the countryside on the Surrey/Hampshire border. It has excellent sports, classroom and dining facilities, and modern boarding houses. The small town of Hook is only 15 minutes away by road and Basingstoke is about 25 minutes away.
The course will run from 5th July to 2nd August, however it would be preferable if you are available from the end of June in order to prepare for the role.

Degree Required
Applicants should have one of the following required qualifications:
Cambridge DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL
Qualifications
Educated to Degree level or higher
Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Diploma in Teaching English
Experience of being a senior member on a junior residential programme
Ability to guide teachers in new teaching approaches (e.g. project-based learning)
Proven ability to organise and manage workload productively
Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills
Excellent people management and team building skills
Excellent administrative and IT skills
Strong awareness of Safeguarding
Flexibility and cultural awareness
Experience of teaching a wide variety of courses and levels
Experience of curriculum development/course design and summer programme CPD
Desirable:
Enthusiastic and able to enthuse others
First Aid trained
Experience with inspections from bodies such as Accreditation UK and ISI
A strong individual with a cheerful personality
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Full driving licence, own car and willingness to use for school business
Salary and Benefits
As this is a residential position, full board and lodgings at the centre are provided.
One 24-hour period off per week.
Training and paid preparation time given before the start of the summer course.
