Details of Position

Millfield Summer Camp takes place across two sites in Somerset: Millfield Senior School in Street (for ages 12-16) and Millfield Prep School in Glastonbury (for ages 8-11). Both locations offer full-board accommodation with 24-hour staff supervision, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone.

Through our immersive summer camp, children and young people will not only discover their brilliance but also create unforgettable memories with new friends from around the world.

Your Responsibilities:

Safeguarding children is the responsibility of all members of Millfield staff.

Being a member of the teaching team delivering 15 hours per week of English lessons (3 hours per day over 5 days), your teaching timetable will vary according to campus requirements. You will be allocated a class at either Street or Glastonbury campus taking into account your skills and experience.

Following a scheme of work to deliver student centred lessons ensuring a cohesive learning experience for students.

Preparing your students for the end of course presentation of their learning.

Ensuring the maximum use of the Learning Notebook.

Keeping detailed records of student attendance and reporting any absences via the approved route.

Keeping detailed class profiles, student progress and records of lessons taught.

Reporting any concerns about class dynamics to your line manager.

Writing comprehensive and personalised student reports at the end of their course.

Ensuring you leave your classroom secure and tidy after use, returning any borrowed equipment and reporting any damage to your line manager.

Attending all academic meetings.

Being available to be observed during class time at times agreed with the Academic Manager.

Attending at least one professional development session per week and helping deliver these if your experience is appropriate.

Giving feedback and taking part in an exit interview.

Millfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment, as such you are required to attend necessary child protection training and participate fully in activities that ensure the school stays compliant with statutory child protection and safeguarding guidelines issued to the School by ISI and Ofsted. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Qualifications

Native / near-native competence in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
University degree or equivalent (we will consider applications from students in the process of completing their degree)
CELTA, Trinity TESOL or Accreditation UK recognised equivalent or PGCE (in Primary, Secondary English or MFL)
Must be eligible to work in the UK (EU citizens need settled/pre settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme or be in possession of a "Frontier Worker Permit" or another work visa.
Millfield cannot support any visa applications.
Teaching experience: both newly qualified and experienced teachers' applications are welcome.

Salary and Benefits

Salary from £314 per week plus holiday pay
Two full days off per week plus other time each day
Maximum working hours 24 per week, maximum 15 hours teaching
