Job Summary

Details of Position

As an Active Teacher, you set the tone for successful learning - through engaging lessons, an inspiring environment, and an approach that encourages confidence and learning by taking part.

You'll be expected to:

Maintain an inclusive classroom atmosphere that values every contribution.

Facilitate diverse activities, including debates, filmmaking and storytelling sessions, to make learning engaging and interactive.

Regularly monitor and assess student progress and adapt your approach as necessary.

Team Coordination: Participate in daily brief meetings with the team to ensure a cohesive approach to the day's objectives and to foster open communication.

Attend the staff induction

Create lesson plans that are both academically sound and engaging for students, following the Dusemond Syllabus.

Utilise a variety of media and technology to enhance the learning experience.

Collaborate with the Academic Manager to review Student progress

Keep accurate records of student attendance, assessments and progress.

Comply with Dusemond's policies and procedures including safeguarding procedures at all times.

You will conduct twice-weekly 1 hour evening sessions designed to prepare students for upcoming excursions (or lead an activity session depending on your centre). You'll be expected to make these sessions both informative and fun, setting the stage for the adventures that lie ahead.

Turn 1: 2nd July - 16th July
Turn 2: 17th July - 31st July
Turn 3: 1st August - 14th August
NB: Very limited availability in Edinburgh

Bedales School + Berkhamsted School
Arrival: 5th July
Turn 1: 7th July - 21st July
Turn 2: 22nd July - 4th August

York Queen Margaret's School
Arrival: 8th July
Turn 1: 10th July - 24th July
Turn 2: 25th July - 7th August

Applicants should have one of the following required qualifications:
Cambridge CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, Cambridge DELTA, Trinity DipTESOL

Teaching experience: 1 years

Native level English speaker preferred

Qualifications

CELTA and TESOL are preferred. Applicants with relevant experience will be considered.

Please note that this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. It is an offence to apply for this post if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children. Current and past employers will be approached for references and will be specifically asked about an applicant's suitability to work with children. Salary and Benefits

£537.24 per week
£557.24 per week for CELTA, TESOL or QTS
Additional £50 per week for returning staff

Full board provided with a weekly deduction of £74.62

12.07% holiday pay added in final pay packet

Ample time off - a standard programme has every third day an excursion day for all students which is a non teaching day.

Dusemond does not require teachers to perform additional scheduled pastoral or activity duties aside from the twice-weekly "Excursion Mania" sessions as detailed above - unlike many summer school companies, you will not be collecting students from the airport, manning the disco or patrolling corridors at midnight!
