Details of Position
Seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking and friendly volunteer for July/August/September 2024 who would like to support young learners and students learning English in a relaxed and enjoyable educational environment supported by an experienced teacher. The position is based in a beautiful, small and quiet Italian seaside town of Sapri. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is perhaps looking combine a summer holiday while gaining more experience with children.
It may also suit someone who is studying Italian and who would like to learn or develop their language skills, as very little English is spoken here. Located in the South of Italy, the town Is well connected by train to cities including Salerno (2 hours), Naples (2.5 hours) and Rome (5 hours) so would offer a good base to explore the rest of the country from. Located on the seafront of the town, which in the summer transforms from a very quiet place in the winter months to a lively, bustling resort (predominantly for Italian tourists in the summer) the role would suit someone who is independent, motivated, enjoys learning languages, has their own creative pastimes, enjoys sport and leading an outdoor lifestyle and likes hot weather as temperatures can be extremely high in July and August.
The summer project is specifically aimed at younger learners from age 4-6 and is mainly play based learning similar to Playgroup and Early Years settings in the UK. Therefore candidates must enjoy working with younger children.
We also offer a range of courses from beginner to advanced, to students of all ages, many of whom are studying towards Cambridge exams at all levels.
In the academic year, we also do a lot of voluntary and not for profit work in the community and last year were able to help over 100 students learn English for free!
The successful volunteer is needed to support the teacher in class by helping out with tasks, playing alongside children, encouraging participation and joining in with activities while ensuring students needs are met and safety is maintained.
It will be possible to have the opportunity to learn more about teaching English as a foreign language and all levels of exams if the successful candidate wishes. Lessons are delivered by a fully qualified, experienced teacher.
The position is a supporting role to assist with general classroom upkeep, preparation of activities and to assist with learners needs and classes as well as activities. As such would be suited to a person seeking an educational and training experience, perhaps before or just after completing an EFL qualification or indeed while working towards an online one. If you are friendly, open, hard working and motivated seeking an interesting and enjoyable way to spend your summer holidays by the beach while learning this may be the perfect role for you. Please note that the hours for this role are predominantly in the morning from 8-14:00 Monday to Saturday.

Qualifications
Please note as this is a volunteer opportunity and therefore, should be considered as a learning experience consequently, we are able to consider candidates who do not hold an EFL qualification as yet, but who have an interest in studying towards one, enjoy working with young children and/or have an interest in learning Italian. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility and a willingness to help are however a necessity. Minimum volunteer period 1 month, maximum 99 days. Volunteer period must be for a specific whole month example 1st-31st July,1st-31st August, September 1st-30th . Candidates can apply for a 1,2 or 3 month period.
However, they must be able to clearly demonstrate their interest in the role and suitability in their covering letter and at interview. Due to current legislation if the volunteer does not hold an EU passport the placement can not exceed 90 days without further documentation being successfully obtained.

Salary and Benefits
This is a voluntary position, however shared accommodation of a good standard with a private room will be provided. As this is a volunteering role and learning opportunity the successful candidate must ensure they have sufficient funds to cover living expenses aside from accommodation and that they hold adequate private travel insurance with medical cover.

We are looking for an enthusiastic , friendly and willing volunteer from July-September) with a keen interest in working with children and teaching English as a foreign language. The role will require the successful candidate to assist an experienced teacher with in class tasks, classes and activities with mainly young students age 4-7. However other age groups too. Small classes of up to a maximum of 12 learners (sometimes larger) Approximately 36 hours mainly mornings Monday-Saturday.
