Our school, located in the town of Scalea on the Mediterranean coast in southern Italy, has a position open, effective 10 January, for an English teacher to replace a current teacher who is leaving for family reasons. The job is for the remaining 5 months of the school year, with possibility of a full-time position for the academic year 2022-23. Details of Position

Our school, located on the Mediterranean coast in southern Italy, has a position open for an English teacher for the academic year 2024-2025. We are a long established school with students of all ages from the towns of Scalea and Belvedere and surrounding area. We are also a Cambridge Preparation Centre with a very good record of success in preparing our students for the various CEFR language levels.

Qualifications

Characteristically, the teachers are university graduates whose English is mother-tongue-level. Teaching experience is, of course, an advantage. The qualities that are looked for in a teacher are: responsibility; a friendly and outgoing personality; a serious dedication to the students; a good grounding in English grammar; and maturity and self-reliance in order to cope with adjusting to life in a foreign environment.

Salary and Benefits

800 euros per month net with private accommodation included.

Job Summary

As necessary, organizing meetings are held in the mornings, so that classes can be planned with the help of the head teacher. Typically, the preparation time required at the beginning of the year is longer than that needed when the school and classes become familiar. Classes typically begin at 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and last 60 minutes. Teachers usually deliver three classes a day, sometimes four. The school closes at 8:30 pm. A full schedule consists of 16 lessons per week.
