We are seeking a dedicated and professional Cambridge-based teacher with an expertise in preparing students, particularly those from Asia, for the IELTS exam and other specific English language purposes. This role offers the opportunity to work with motivated students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in the unique challenges faced by learners from Asian countries and be adept at helping them achieve their desired band scores. This will include having a thorough awareness of the specific language issues demonstrated by these students throughout their training and have proven measures to help overcome them.


It is important that the successful candidates will be able to:

- Accurately conduct a needs assessment with a student, identify areas of linguistic strength and weakness, and produce a programme for the student to attain their desired language goals.

- Produce examples of their own material to the same level as that offered by official bodies such as Cambridge Assessment, the British Council, Trinity College, Pearson and the OUP (Oxford University Press).

- Translate their in-person teaching approaches to an online platform as/when needed.


Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver tailored IELTS preparation classes (Academic and General Training) for students from Asia.
- Identify and address specific challenges commonly faced by Asian learners, such as pronunciation, grammar accuracy, and writing coherence.
- Develop culturally sensitive lesson plans that cater to the needs and learning styles of students from diverse Asian backgrounds.
- Teach all four skills tested in the IELTS exam: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, with a focus on high-band performance.
- Provide strategies for common difficulties, such as time management during exams and overcoming language-specific challenges (e.g., understanding idiomatic English).
- Conduct mock tests and provide detailed feedback to enhance students exam readiness and confidence.
- Stay updated on IELTS testing requirements and incorporate the latest materials and methods into lessons.
- Offer one-on-one and group support, ensuring students feel valued and motivated throughout their learning journey.

Degree Required

Teaching experience: 2 years

Native level English speaker preferred
