It is a Cambridge Assessment English Platinum centre, providing certification examinations for the provinces of Siracusa and Ragusa and preparation courses for the full suite of examinations from YLE to CPE. The teaching environment is relaxed and supportive. The school is ISO certified.

The Academy of English is a well-established school based in Siracusa on the east coast of Sicily. The school is a Cambridge English Platinum centre, providing certification examinations to an extensive geographical area and enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its courses. We strive to ensure a positive learning experience for all our students and a relaxed, professional working environment for our teachers. Our teachers benefit from significant support and guidance provided by our experienced academic coordination team, and there are excellent opportunities for career growth for suitable candidates.
We have full-time positions for teachers who are enthusiastic and motivated, and who ideally have experience preparing students for Cambridge exams.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to take part in interviews on Zoom.

Qualifications

Required:
Degree
CELTA or equivalent teaching qualification, e.g. the Trinity Cert Tesol
Right to work in the EU

Desirable:
Experience teaching young learners
Experience teaching Cambridge English exam preparation courses
Experience teaching online

Salary and Benefits

Contract: FIDEF (Italian National Confederation of Educational Institutions) contract
Period of contract: October 1st 2024 - June 30th 2025
Hours: 100 hours monthly
Salary: Starting from 1,250 Euros net per month, with increments based on experience and qualifications. End-of-contract bonus of 50 Euros net per month worked.
Two consecutive days off per week (teachers who work on Saturdays are not required to work on Mondays).
The Christmas and Easter breaks and all Italian national holidays will be paid in full.
Teacher development workshops and staff meetings are timetabled within contracted hours.
Assistance will be given with finding suitable accommodation.
