Salary: £22.02 to £27.87 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Dates: Flexible (Summer school operates from 3rd June to 30th August 2024)

Overview

Key Responsibilities
As a General English Teacher at IH London, you will:
Deliver engaging classes as scheduled, fostering a productive learning environment.
Adhere to and promote IH London's policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure learning atmosphere.
Uphold the highest professional standards in teaching, classroom management, and student engagement in line with the IH Teaching Competencies.

Professional Competencies
Deep understanding of language systems with the ability to clarify details for students.
Effective class management skills to involve all students fairly and equally.
Sensitivity towards cultural issues and student individuality, adhering to the Equal Opportunities and PREVENT Policy.
Genuine interest in students' progress, offering counselling on linguistic difficulties and future learning paths.
Preparation and delivery of lessons that meet learners' levels, needs, and expectations, incorporating a variety of teaching methods and materials.
Classroom and Beyond
Plan and conduct lessons that encourage active participation and continuous learning outside the classroom.
Guide on improving language skills both inside and outside the classroom.
Stay up-to-date with online teaching methodologies and make appropriate use of technology.
Administration and Professional Development
Maintain accurate records, including class registers and lesson record sheets.
Encourage feedback and prepare academic reports as necessary.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay at the forefront of language teaching innovation.
Person Specification
Essential: First degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) and Cambridge CELTA qualification (or equivalent).
Desirable: Experience in exam, YL, or ESP teaching, and IELTS Examiner status.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexibility, team collaboration, and the ability to work autonomously.
Special Requirements
Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check.
Provision of two satisfactory references.
